ARTS RELATED
Shared Assembly
(at school)
CoSer: 406.010 / 406.011

Description:
The Shared Assembly Program service is composed of several components:

Assembly Programs
Schools choose art-related assembly programs and workshops to meet their needs from both the Young Audiences Rochester and Young Audiences of Western New York rosters, as well as from a Program Selection List developed by a committee of representatives of each district participating in the service. These assemblies and workshops are booked by BOCES staff. Advance study guides are provided when available. Evaluations are conducted to monitor the quality of the presentations.

Artist Residencies
Districts are matched with experienced teaching artists in the visual or performing arts. The structure and length of the residency is determined by the district in collaboration with the individual artist. A roster of local teaching artists is provided as well as the Young Audiences of Rochester roster. Technical assistance with planning, implementation, and evaluation of the residency can be provided upon request.
Grants of up to $1000 are available for performing and visual arts residencies on a competitive basis from the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts through NYSCA regrant funds. These grants support residencies that teach academic subject matter through the use of the art form and that meet NYS Learning Standards in both the Arts and the academic area.

Plays, Musicals, and Concerts
Live theatre and musical theatre performances, most often based on classic children's or young adult literature, are scheduled into local auditoriums. Several shows are scheduled each school year to appeal to a range of grade levels. Orchestra or chamber concerts are also offered when available. Districts are charged on a per seat basis. Study guides are provided.
