Certification Office

  • The Teacher Certification Office provides participating districts with access to certification specialists qualified to evaluate transcripts toward meeting certification requirements for teaching, teaching assistant, and coaching certification when a paid application for certification has been filed on the TEACH online application system. The specialists analyze transcripts and other documentation to determine eligibility for certification, provide candidates with information on how to meet any remaining requirements, and, when possible, approve a candidate for certification.

    In addition, the specialists assist districts with questions regarding the employment options for uncertified and/or substitute teachers, mentoring, and professional development. They may also serve as an intermediary between the districts and the Office of Teaching Initiatives in Albany. They can provide assistance to applicants as well as district personnel with the online application process and understanding the complexities of the TEACH certification system and database. Upon request, they are available to present information in person to groups of teachers and/or other groups of educators.
