BOCES stands for Board of Cooperative Educational Services. BOCES are public organizations that were created by the New York State Legislature in 1948 to provide shared educational programs and services to school districts.

The Genesee Valley BOCES serves more than 24,000 students in 22 school districts located in Genesee, Livingston, Steuben, and Wyoming counties. This region encompasses 1,800 square miles. Genesee Valley BOCES offers a wide range of programs and services, including career and technical education, special education programs and services, alternative education, instructional and technical support services, and management services. Each year, new programs and services continue to be developed in response to the emerging educational needs of area school districts.
