“I’m going into the nursing field because my aunt—she’s a nurse—really encouraged me. I’ve always loved being around kids. I want a career where I can work with them and help take care of them.”

Right now I’m working at a nursing home. What’s special is the people — they really look forward to seeing others, and they’re happy to see us. We get to bring some joy to their day, and that’s a good feeling. We help with showers, personal hygiene, and meals. We also paint nails, do their hair—things like that.

I picked this program because going into college and moving forward, I’ll have knowledge of nursing things. It’s more hands-on. You learn it, and then you do what you learn, instead of just learning it.

“My final thought about this program is that I love Miss M. She helps a lot, she’s really understanding, and if you ask a question, she’ll explain it to you and help you.”
