Students from across Genesee Valley BOCES component districts put their math skills to the test this year through a series of Interscholastic Math Competitions organized by the BOCES Enrichment team.
Throughout the school year, students competed in two divisions. The North schools, representing eight districts and 12 teams, participated in four competitions, while the South schools, made up of six districts and 10 teams, also took part in four rounds of challenging problem-solving.
At the conclusion of the season, the highest-scoring individual students from each division earned a spot on the All-Star teams. These students were selected to represent Genesee Valley BOCES at the Monroe County Math League (MCML) competition.
The All-Star North team included students from Oakfield-Alabama, Byron-Bergen, LeRoy, Alexander, and Pembroke. The All-Star South team was made up of students from Geneseo, Caledonia-Mumford, and Livonia.
On Thursday, March 19, both teams traveled to Nazareth College to compete against top students from across the region. The North team delivered an impressive performance, earning 3rd place in Division 1.
The competition highlighted not only strong individual achievement, but also the collaboration and dedication of students from multiple districts coming together to represent their region.
