The bootcamp begins July 6 at Genesee Valley BOCES in Batavia and is open to adults ages 18 and older interested in pursuing careers as electromechanical, electrical and mechanical technicians. Participants receive industry-focused training while earning a paycheck through paid co-op placements with local manufacturers.
The program follows RTMA's successful "earn while you learn" model, which combines classroom instruction with paid on-the-job experience. Participants gain valuable technical skills, industry exposure and connections to employers while exploring opportunities for New York State Registered Apprenticeships. RTMA currently serves as the regional sponsor for the NYS Registered Apprenticeship Program, partnering with dozens of manufacturers across the Finger Lakes region.
"Manufacturers throughout our region continue to need skilled electromechanical technicians," said program organizers. "This bootcamp gives participants the opportunity to build those skills, gain real workplace experience and begin a pathway toward a rewarding career without taking on student debt."
RTMA's pre-apprenticeship programs are designed to address workforce shortages while helping individuals enter high-demand careers. Previous programs have provided participants with extensive hands-on training and paid work experience that often leads directly to employment opportunities with local manufacturers.
